Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation a publié un communiqué hier, au sujet de la vidéo désormais célèbre du insultes homophobes de la star de la TNA étoile Bully Ray contre un fan de Chicago.
"Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling GLAAD nous a invité pour parler au personnel et aux talents après qu'une vidéo montrant Bully Ray, ayant des propos dénigrants vis-à-vis des homosexuels, a été diffusé. Ray a été immortalisé en criant des insultes homophobe lors des enregistrements des Impact Wrestling de Chicago. L'incident avec le fan n'était absolument pas préparé mais les vives réactions et critiques sur internet a amener cette réponse de la TNA Wrestling. Des personnes travaillant pour GLADD ce sont donc entretenues avec le personnel et les lutteurs. Elles leurs ont expliqué les conséquences néfastes que pourraient avoir de tels propos. Elle leur ont expliqué également sur que pouvait metttre en place la TNA pour mieux accueillir les personnes homosexuelles !
Dixie Carter a publié une commentaire d’excuse sur twitter, « grondant » Bully Ray et en expliquant ne pas tolérer cela.
GLADD a ensuite parler avec le porte parole de Spike TV, David Schwarz . Ce dernier a de nouveau déclaré que les propos homophobes ne seront jamais toléré et que ce message a été transmis à l'ensemble des personnes travaillant sur les programmes diffusés par Spike Tv
Ce qui aurait fait pencher la balance en faveur de la TNA, ce sont les excuses formulées par Bully Ray sur twitter. Son passé à la ECW/WWF/WWE, son histoire actuelle à la TNA font de lui une personnalité connue, respectée et suivie par la communauté des fans de catch. GLADD précise que l'important n'est pas de savoir su Bully Ray était en mode gimmick ou non mais bien qu'il prenne conscience de la portée de ses paroles et qu'il ne reproduise plus le même type d'erreur.
De mémoire, Bully Ray apostrophait un fan de pédé, insinuant qu'il s'épilait le torse. Il l'a tourner en ridicule et lui disant l'avoir arnaqué (ainsi que toute sa .... de ville) devant sa fille.
Par la suite en voulant retourner backstage, Bully Ray a été frappé par un fan et une autre altercation a éclatée. Bully Ray s'est contenter de quelques vannes (le gabarit de la personne était de type chétif) et la sécurité a écarté le violent spectateur.

Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation issued a press release today regarding the now infamous video of TNA star Bully Ray's homophobic slurs against a fan just a few weeks back.
"Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling has invited GLAAD to speak to staff and talent after a video was posted online showing one of its stars, Bully Ray, subjecting a fan to an anti-gay tirade.
Bully Ray was caught on video shouting homophobic slurs at a fan during an Impact Wrestling taping for its Spike TV program in Chicago. Although the incident was not part of the program itself, video of the incident was posted online and drew strong responses from many wrestling fans. This led to a response from TNA Wrestling President Dixie Carter. She issued a statement through her Twitter account calling out Bully Ray for what he said while also making sure to include that his comments "would not be tolerated." GLAAD spoke with Spike TV spokesman David Schwarz, who reiterated that anti-gay language is "never tolerated" anywhere at the network, and said that this message has been conveyed to all of the network's staff and talent.
Carter has also invited GLAAD to address the TNA team about the harmful impact of anti-gay language, and what positive steps can be taken to ensure that all fans feel welcomed by TNA, whether LGBT or not.
The incident happened after the taping of the wrestling match as Bully Ray walked past fans and out of the arena. The video catches him calling what appears to be a random fan "faggot" and "frickin' queer."
The tweets issued by Bully Ray are a step in the right direction because he does have the ability to positively and negatively affect wrestling culture. Through his previous stint with the WWE, as well as his current championship title under TNA, Bully Ray has gained a significant amount of fame within the professional wrestling community. Hopefully, his tweets are a sign that he recognizes the fact that he holds a high level of influence within the industry and that it shouldn't matter whether he was acting through a character. He seems to have realized the difference between having the bully persona as a way to overcome a wrestling opponent and using that same persona as a shield to insult a spectator with homophobic slurs. Hopefully, Bully Ray is learning that difference and will foster a positive experience for everyone involved with TNA in the future."
